Sunshine and Puppies
I met with Jen Elks earlier tonight. She is the editor of The Skinny, another local magazine that covers music, art, San Francisco community and whatnot. She wanted to ask me some questions, was looking for ways to make running a magazine. Seemed like everything that came out of my mouth was discouraging. Like me, she started this all by herself and handles pretty much every area of the magazine's production, and like me she works a full-time job on top of it. It is so incredibly frustrating sometimes running a magazine, trying to start something to help the local artistic community. It takes an incredible amount of time, energy and money it takes to do something like this... and it all seems pointless at times. Meanwhile, shit like 7x7 and SOMA keep churning out yuppie bullshit that no one reads or cares about.
Pick up Jen's magazine, The Skinny, at shops around The City. It covers some really cool stuff and the layout is excellent.
