Joining the Cult of Gram Rabbit

Went to catch my friends Liz & Chuck and their band, Lines In Analog Sound, at Cafe Du Nord last night. Another excellent set from them. Stuck around not realizing that Joshua Tree's Gram Rabbit was playing. We reviewed their album, Music To Start a Cult To, awhile back and I had played a track off of it on the Mesh Mix. I caught half a Gram Rabbit song at Cafe Du Nord when they played there a few months back, but didn't know too much.
Normally, I wouldn't expect myself to be into a band that wears bunny ears, but this band broke through my prejudices. Combining Patsy Cline-ish eerie country with Prince-like funk, slide guitar and indie dance sounds these guys turned out the party. In spite of the fact that the lead singer goes by the moniker Jesika von Rabbit, she--and the rest of the band--is completely charismatic. (Or as my friend said to me at the show last night, "Dude, she's like totally hot, in a really cheesy way." I'mma conspire to get them to play a Mesh party.
