Bay Area Art & Music Picks for June 22-June 29
I've decided to start making regular picks of art and music shows in the Bay Area that I think are worth your time and money. I'll probably do these every two weeks on Wednesdays.

Hightower, S.T.R.E.E.T.S. (Vancouver) all ages at the Auto Gallery: 3223 Telegraph, Oakland.
Hightower are the Bay Area's reigning kings of Bay Area sludge metal. Their appeal goes beyond metalheads to punk rockers and skaters and their live shows are legendary. Catch them with Vancouver's S.T.R.E.E.T.S (which stands for Skating Totally Rules, Everything Else Totally Sucks and may be the best band name ever) whose brand of skate hardcore pleases the masses with songs like "Let's Get Rad." Plus, there's art by: art by: Faye Jaime, Billy Kroft, Tracy Timmins, Morgan Wick and Lisa Sussman.

The Diorama Show
Mission 17
at the corner of 17th and Mission (two doors down from Thrift Town)
2111 Mission st. suite 401
San Francisco
Opening Reception 6-9pm
Celebrating an artform that has fallen into serious disrepute since my fourth grade Boston Tea Party project, is Mission 17's Diorama Show. Artists Include: Cheie Aloha, Luiz Arnias, Aylen Beazely, Jonathan Belli, Alex Braubach, Erica Browne, James Burke, Christopher Cheney, Adam Connelly, Lauren Davies, Elizabeth DiGiovanni, Sandhya Dirks, Emily Donat, Luke Dorman, Chris Dorz, Kathryn Dunlevie, Robyn Einhorn, Lora Finelli, Ben Folstien, Dustin Fosnot, Jaun Pablo Garza, Mayumi Hamanaka, Hannah Hammond-Hagman, Liz Harris, Taro Hattori, Nana Hayashi, Amy Hibbs, Ben Houston, Homero Hidalgo, Ava Jancar, David Kasdorf, Kimberlee Koym, Kristina Lewis, Mike McConnell, Megan McCready, Jason Michael, Mark Mulroney, Rebecca Noon, Caitlin Parker, Shalo Penuela, Julia Petho, Fiona Ryan, Kyle Simon, Mercedeze Singleton, Ryan Smith, Shawn Smith, Sarah Thibualt, Michael Trigilio, Gabrielle Wolodarski.

Intelligence (Seattle), Boyskout, zZz (Amsterdam) at The Hemlock in San Francisco 21+ $7 9:30PM.
Two, count 'em, two bands featured in previous issues of Mesh: Seattle's purveyors of post-punk mayhem, The Intelligence and the infectious sounds of San Francisco's own Boyskout, whose live show offers a dance rocking good time.
