More joys from today’s Muni trip: This time it was the dollar machine that was broken at the Van Ness Muni station. The escalator at Powell Station is still “undergoing maintenance.” And a handy dandy Muni schedule display being used in proper Muni fashion. In addition, we received this comment on our last Muni post: The ticket machines for the M at 19th/Stonestown have been broken for a while too.

Taken Friday, September 28th. 

Once again, Muni’s change machine was broken in the Van Ness station. Once again, I will send them an email and not receive a response. As an added bonus, the escalator at Powell Station was broken all weekend and today.

Pictured above is the Van Ness Muni Station northwest escalator. Over the last three years, it has been out of service approximately half the days of the week. Looks like they are reinstalling the entire escalator finally. Two weeks ago, while I was entering the station, two maintenance men were standing at the top of the escalator:

Maintenance Guy 1 into walkie talkie to guy at bottom of escalator: Wait… is it grease? What?… Is it grease or shit?… Oh my god.
(To man standing next to him): There’s shit all over it. Actual shit.
(Into walkie talkie): What?… Oh jesus.
(To man standing next to him): They smeared shit all over the walls.
